Building teachers' and master trainers' capacity to use digital technology effectively in the classroom, aligned to NEP 2020 and national platforms.
DIET Leh strengthens the capacity of teachers and master trainers to use digital technology effectively in the classroom. This work orients educators to the digital-education goals of NEP 2020, to national platforms such as DIKSHA and the NDEAR framework, to the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), and to digital pedagogy and the safe, responsible use of digital spaces.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a distinct component of Samagra Shiksha, the Government of India's integrated scheme for school education. Its aim is twofold: to equip government schools with ICT-enabled labs and digital resources, and to build the capacity of teachers to use those resources in the classroom. The scheme also supports the strengthening of teacher education institutions, so that the training side keeps pace with the equipment side.
DIET Leh maintains an ICT Lab as one of its academic cells, working under the Directorate of School Education, UT Ladakh. The lab is the teacher-education end of that scheme: the place where teachers and master trainers from across Leh district build the skills they then carry back to their own schools. The emphasis has moved well beyond basic computer operation — what matters now is integrating digital tools into everyday pedagogy, so that technology serves the lesson rather than displacing it.
UT Ladakh took part in the national Workshop on Leveraging Digital Technology for Master Trainers of States/UTs (Phase 3), organised by NCERT for master trainers from Ladakh and other states and union territories. Master trainers bring what they learn back to Leh, where it feeds into the institute's ICT training for teachers across the district.
